We love snacking on things like biscuit, packet potato chips and keropok udang while watching TV. Besides the fact that those food taste really good, it’s something we do out of habit and convenience. In the effort to eat better, we thought of making healthy snacks that are delicious and fast. The first thing that came to mind is edamame.
Edamame is known to be a healthy snack which is often served in Japanese restaurant. It’s rich in dietary fiber and micro-nutrient such as folates, manganese and vitamin K. As legumes contain isoflavones that mimic the female hormone estrogen in the body, it might help ease the symptoms of menopause. (source).
Most of us only eat edamame at Japanese restaurants. Do you know it’s something that can be easily done at home? All you need is a packet of frozen edamame from the supermarket, salt and microwave. Traditionally, it’s boiled in salt water. To make it easier, we decided to pop it into the microwave instead. Also, frozen edamame means you can keep it in the freeze for a long time.
YOU WILL NEED
> Edamame, frozen……………1 packet
> Salt………………………………..1 tsp
- Pour frozen edamame into a microwave-safe bowl
- Pop it into the microwave for about 2 minutes
