Sweet And Simple
Chinese reunion dinner is the most important dinner for those who celebrates lunar new year. We gather with our family to welcome the new year with a huge feast. All dishes should sound auspicious, such as ‘fat choy’ (髮菜) which sounds like ‘prosperity’ in the Chinese language. What is our most loved dessert for reunion dinner? Glutinous rice balls.

SYMBOLISM
Tong yuen (汤圆) when spoken sounds like ‘family union’. Though traditionally eaten during Lantern Festival, we feel it means so much to have it on the most important family dinner of the year. It’s not an easy dessert to make but we cannot bear to eliminate it in our Chinese new year menu. So we decided to buy prepared ones in packets. It’s rather delicious and saves so much time!
