At JewelPie, we believe in eating well and fuss-free cooking. Naturally, we are very interested in Ayam Brand’s new book ‘Fish and Olive Oil’ which features recipes that can be whipped up in 40 minutes or less.
WHO & WHY
This book is created by Ayam Brand to reintroduce the health benefits of fish and olive oil. Much like JewelPie, Ayam Brand wants to reverse the trend of eating out. As the dishes in this book is easy to make, cooking and eating healthy can be reality for busy people.
WHAT’S IN THE BOOK?
In it, there are 30 recipes using canned sardine and tuna in olive oil. Recipes includes Malay, Chinese, Indian, Thai, Japanese, Italian, French and fusion cuisine. The book calls for ingredients that are commonly available in most homes. Its instructions are mostly short and easy to follow.
WHAT WE LIKE?
We love how every recipe is accompanied with beautiful photographs. Most of the recipes are popular Malaysian favourites such as rainbow tuna meehon and dry chilli tuna sambal. Our top favourite recipes? Sardines otak-otak and tuna and ulam raja omelette!
While JewelPie love cooking easy food, we do not recommend relying solely on canned food. Whenever possible, buy and eat fresh produce.
However, the reality is that most of us are not able to cook fresh food everyday. At our pantry, we have a small amount of healthier canned food. We see them more as ’emergency’ food than our daily food. It’s always better than eating out.
