Some of our favourite topics are alternative medicine, home remedies and home spa. We’re always amaze how women of the yesteryear took care of their health and enhance their beauty using natural oils, plants, herbs and spices. They gain energy with homemade essence of chicken and obtain cheeks rosy flush through dates tonic.
While flipping through a book on Indian recipes and home remedies based on traditional ayurvedic medicine, we found an anti-wrinkle mask using sandalwood.
Sandalwood powder, known for its anti-inflammatory properties, can be mixed with rose water and applied on the face. It acts as an anti-ageing agent by protecting the skin from sun damage.
YOU WILL NEED:
> Pure sandalwood oil x 3 drops (We replaced it with a teaspoon of sandalwood powder instead)
> Honey x 2 tsp
> Milk x 1 tsbp
> Egg white x 1
A step-by-step tutorial for sandalwood anti-wrinkle mask
Add egg white (1), sandalwood powder (2), honey (3) and (4) milk into a bowl and mix well (5). To extract the egg white, make a hole on top of the egg with a fork and pour the egg white out.
With a brush, apply mixture all over clean face and neck, avoiding the eye and mouth area. Leave to dry for 10 to 20 minutes. Rinse off with cool water and pat dry with a towel.
The mixture was rather watery. To avoid mess, you may want to thicken the paste with more honey or/and less milk. It is a good idea to do this treatment in the bathroom just before taking a shower.
We enjoyed the smell of sandalwood and the skin-tightening effect it had on our face. Expect more ayurvedic recipes and remedies from us!
