However, we continued to shop online and made more purchases in the last month. We have learned a few tricks that will make the experience better. Here are some tips:
1. Be prepared that fresh items might not be available
Unlike clothes which are not perishable, fresh produce arrives daily and might not be available on some days.
So do expect that the fresh dory fillet might not be available and be replaced with frozen fillet instead. Make a mental note that if that happens, whether you will accept it or whether dinner can still go on without.
2. Order by weight instead of by quantity
This is not a big deal, but you might want to order items by kg (e.g 1 kg) instead of quantity (e.g 5 pieces). We’ve ordered some potatoes by quantity and they are all wrapped in separate plastic!
4. Order a replacement
If you have to make an important dish using fresh ingredient that may not be available, order another replacement. For example, you may want to order portabello mushroom on top of dutch button mushroom…just in case.
We like how TESCO lets you choose only items that you like. However, do it only sparingly. You don’t want the poor delivery guy to take home heaps of items back.
5. Get ready your credit/debit card
When your order arrives, you will have to deal with the delivery person, check whether items are up to your standard, reject/accept substituted items and sign some receipts. It’s smart to prepare your card ahead of time to make this process smoother.
